A24 has revealed the first official trailer for an acclaimed film titled A Different Man, an indie drama made by the filmmaker Aaron Schimberg (also of Go Down Death and Chained For Life). This premiered at both the 2024 Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals earlier this year, to some mixed but mostly positively reviews. It’s a compelling look at what happens when you change yourself and the consequences of such a drastic cosmetic change. Aspiring actor Edward undergoes a radical medical procedure to drastically transform his appearance. But his new, perfect dream face quickly turns into a nightmare, as he becomes obsessed with reclaiming what was lost… “Is the risk worth the reward?” The film stars Sebastian Stan as Edward, Adam Pearson as Oswald, and Renate Reinsve as Ingrid. I think this is a seriously smart, intricate, complex film that goes off the rails at the end – but the rest of it is seriously compelling and very well made.
