The upcoming Soulslike action-adventure video game Black Myth: Wukong from Game Science looks very promising regarding its action and boss encounters. However, after the previews of the hands-on Demo at Gamescom 2023, several fans wondered if the game even includes the second phase for the bosses, which is quite usual in Soulslike games.
The Demo included several boss fights, but none of them entered the second phase, which raises the question of the difficulty of the game and how it will challenge the players. As we know there is no difficulty option in Black Myth: Wukong, a PlayStation Insider named GermanStrands on X revealed in his post stating, “Certain bosses in Black Myth: Wukong will only enter the second phase if you manage to defeat them within a certain time frame.”
Upon revealing this information, several fans thought that it was an interesting feature as it would test the capability of a player based on their fighting skills and let them encounter a second phase of the boss to make the fight even. It is definitely a unique feature and opposed to generic boss encounters in Soulslike games, but it is up to players how they digest this feature once the game comes out.
Black Myth: Wukong releases on August 20, 2024, on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games) with the Xbox Series X|S version slated for a later release.
