Getting essential Research Materials is crucial to research the Enhanced Materials at Anais in The First Descendant. All Enhanced Materials require specific materials some of which are obtained from certain Amorphous Material Patterns. Unlike regular materials gathered from chests and blue boxes around the world regions, an Amorphous Material Pattern requires a Reconstructed Device to be opened and grant a random item from within it.
As Amorphous Material Patterns can be obtained by various missions, finding the Reconstructed Device can be a bit confusing for opening them. This guide will walk you through each method through which you can find a Reconstructed Device in The First Descendant.
How to Find the Reconstructed Device in The First Descendant
The Reconstructed Device is found by two different methods in The First Descendant. The first method requires the completion of the Void Intercept Battle, and the second method requires the completion of a Void Fusion Reactor mission.
Defeat Bosses at Void Intercept Battle
The Intercept Fight is the main way to progress in The First Descendant and as you clear each region, you will be required to speak with Seneca to initiate the Intercept Fight against a certain boss.
There are several bosses in the Intercept Fight segment and each one requires a certain level. However, every boss can be revisited at any time and each time they will drop the Reconstructed Device upon defeat. For instance, Grave Walker is the first main boss of the game which you have to defeat to progress to the next region of the world. If you re-initiate the fight against Grave Walker by speaking with Seneca at Albion, you will find the Reconstructed Device every time you defeat the Grave Walker.
Complete Void Fusion Reactor Missions
Another way to find the Reconstructed Device is by completing the Void Fusion Reactor missions. You will find these missions in several regions starting with Vespers. The Void Fusion Reactor mission is initiated by activating the reactor with Void Shards. Each reactor requires a certain number of various shards which can be obtained by destroying the Void Fragments.
Once you have the required number of Void Shards, activate the reactor to begin the mission and it will spawn an elite enemy. From here, you need to defeat the elite enemy and they will drop the Reconstructed Device like in the Intercept Fight.
How to Use the Reconstructed Device in The First Descendant
Upon finding the Reconstructed Device, interact with it to select the Amorphous Material Pattern you wish to open. After selecting the material pattern, it will show you the possible materials that you can get along with their drop rate percentage. Now, select the ‘Shape’ option down at the bottom and you will be rewarded with a random possible material.
Once you have shaped the Amorphous Material Pattern, it will be consumed from your inventory and you might have to get the material pattern and find the Reconstructed Device again to re-shape the same material pattern to get another possible reward which you didn’t get the first time.
