A pickaxe is an essential tool in Once Human that is used to mine the solid rock and the mineral nodes scattered throughout the world. However, as the game has a feature to mine the gravel and mineral ores with bare hands, the Pickaxe increases the speed of mining and foraging, so using a Pickaxe will help you get more resources in less time.
This guide will help you how to make a pickaxe in Once Human.
How to Make a Pickaxe in Once Human
The Pickaxe is one of the Gathering Tools in Once Human and players will be able to make it right after setting up the campsite. As the campsite comes with a pre-built Simple Crafting Bench, it also holds the recipe for a Crude Pickaxe. Once you have built a campsite, go and interact with the crafting bench and you will find the Crude Pickaxe recipe in the items. Building a Crude Pickaxe will require you the following materials.
5x Log
10x Gravel
Both of these are basic materials that can be gathered with bare hands. To collect the logs, go to any tree and hold the interaction key. Your character will automatically break down the tree with a stone and gather logs. For Gravel, you need to find a rock and then hold the interaction key to break the rock to get Gravel.
After gathering the required materials, head back to the campsite and interact with the crafting bench. Select the Crude Pickaxe recipe and then hold the crafting button to craft it. The Crude Pickaxe will be added to the Crafting Queue section and it will take 10 seconds to craft. Once it has been crafted, select it from the Crafting Queue to add it to your inventory.
How to Use the Pickaxe in Once Human
There are different tiers of Pickaxe in Once Human and each tier increases the speed of gathering resources. However, you must first equip the Pickaxe before mining the rocks or mineral deposits to use the Pickaxe. Otherwise, your character will start mining barehanded which slows down the process and gives you fewer resources.
