The Murky Energy Residue is obtained by eliminating a certain monster within the specific missions. There are four main missions over in the Sterile Land region which include the monster that you need to hunt to get the Murky Energy Residue, but there is one mission in particular that you can complete in a few minutes and get 13-17 Murky Energy Residues on each run.
The mission that you need to pursue to farm the Murky Energy Residue is the Forgottense located in the Restricted Zone area of the Sterile Land region. It is an Infiltration Mission (dungeon) that requires you to clear out enemies in different locations. Initiate the mission to head inside the dungeon and make your way to the first zone. Clear out the enemies in the zone and then continue ahead to the next zone.
TIP: Using Bunny will make the run-time for this mission even shorter due to her sprint ability.
Upon clearing the enemies in the second zone, a door will open which will take you to the third and and final zone. Here, repeat the process of clearing out the enemies and then make your way to the second platform in the area to find the Elite Tracker. Defeat the Elite Tracker as it will drop the Murky Energy Residue on the ground. Make sure to pick up the dropped materials to secure them before leaving the mission area.
After that, you can repeat this mission as many times as you like to farm the Murky Energy Residue so you can research the certain Enhanced Materials that require the Murky Energy Residue.
