Clay is obtained by digging any grassy land using the Shovel tool. The grassy land is found in abundance in the Pine Forest biome, the starting biome of the game, as well as in the other forest biomes. However, make sure that you don’t dig the Gravel Paths in the forest biomes as they will usually give Sand instead of Clay.
Moreover, if you are in the Snow or the Desert biomes, you will not get Clay by digging the ground but get snow and sand respectively.
How to Get the Shovel Early in 7 Days to Die
