Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree offers over 90 new weapons including the new 8 weapon types that players can gather by exploring the Realm of Shadow or defeating the bosses. However, the Sword of Night is one of the new easily missable weapons in Shadow of the Erdtree. It is a matte black Katana made with darkness that cannot be stopped with any type of guarding. Meaning it can be efficiently used against the enemies that have shields.
This guide will help you how to get the Sword of Night in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
How to Get the Sword of Night in Shadow of the Erdtree
The Sword of Night is mainly wielded by an NPC named Jolán located in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr in the Sacdu Atlus region. She is a Swordhand of Night who follows her overseer Count Ymir and for you to get the Sword of Night, you will have to complete Ymir’s questline and then select the Iris of Occultation option at the end of the quest while speaking with Jolán.
Read our complete guide on Ymir’s Questline for a full quest walkthrough.
Ymir’s Questline Overview
Ymir’s questline requires you to find the Finger Ruins’ places after getting the Ruins Map for each one from Ymir. After finding the Ruins area, you will have to find the Four Finger structure with a hanging bell inside it and then interact with the bell to sound it. You will have to do this three times in three different locations.
Ruins Map (1st) – Finger Ruins of Rhia located northeast of Cerulean Coast.
Ruins Map (2nd) – Finger Ruins of Dheo located east of the Hinterland in the Scaduview region.
Ruins Map (3rd) – Underneath the Cathedral of Manus Metyr.
After sounding all three bells, you will have to defeat Metyr, the Mother of Fingers boss, and then you will have to defeat Jolán and Ymir at the Cathedral to finish the quest.
Where to Find the Iris of Occultation and Getting the Sword of Night
The Iris of Occultation is found by killing an enemy at the Fort of Reprimand. The Fort of Reprimand is located south of Moorth Ruins Site of Grace. Head inside the fort and stick to the wall on the left to come across a hole. Drop down to the hole and defeat the enemy inside to get the Iris of Occultation.
After finishing the quest, you will see Jolán in the Cathedral on her last breath. As you speak with her, you will be able to make a choice of which rewards you wish to get. If you have picked up the Iris of Occultation, you will see the option for it, and selecting it will reward you with Sword of Night, a Katana weapon.
