Fallout 76: How to Complete the Housekeeping for Hire Quest

The Housekeeping for Hire is one of the new main quests in Fallout 76 added with the Skyline Valley update. It is the fourth/fifth main quest that players can begin inside Vault 63 by speaking with the Security Head named James Oberlin. This guide will walk you through how to complete the Housekeeping for Hire quest in Fallout 76.

How to Start the Quest

The Housekeeping for Hire quest becomes available after completing the Clam Before quest. During the Calm Before quest, you will make your way to Vault 63 and meet with various members including the overseer, Hugo Stolz. Once you have completed this quest, the head of security, James Oberlin will have a task for you and as you speak to him the Housekeeping for Hire quest will begin.

Speak to Vault Dwellers in the Residential Area

Speaking to James Oberlin will reveal that there are three vault dwellers having some problems. He will ask you to go and speak with them to find out the problems and help them. Follow the objective marker to reach the Residential Area and then speak to the following dwellers.

After speaking with them, go to the Atrium Lower Level and you will have three different tasks to complete.

Clear out the Rat Infestation

Upon reaching the Atrium Lower level, go to the right side and open the Depot Door. Kill all of the rats inside the depot to finish the first task.

Investigate the Noise in the Generator Room

After taking care of the rats, go around the hallway of the Depot to reach the Reactor. Go inside the Reactor Room and interact with the Terminal Use the Terminal to open the locked door to the reactor. Make your way through the opened door and kill all the rats inside the room. Go down the stairs and repair all five damaged pipes by interacting with them. The second task will be completed once you have repaired all five pipes.

Put Alfie out of his Misery

Leave the Reactor Room and make your way to the room next to the elevator. Here, you will find two doors, one will be inaccessible while the other one will require Alfie’s Room Keycard. Alfie’s Room Keycard is located on the table beside the toolbox. Pick up the keycard and open the door ahead to find Alfie in his room. As you enter the room, eliminate Alfie and pick up the journal from his body.

Return to Vault Dwellers

Once you have completed all three tasks, go to the Atrium Upper Level and make your way to the Residential Area to inform the Vault Dwellers that all the issues have been resolved.

Report Back to Oberlin

After speaking with the Dwellers, go back to James Oberlin in the Security Room to tell him that you have helped the residents to conclude the quest. Once the quest has been concluded, a new quest will become available called The Powerhouse of the Cell.
