Fallout 76: How to Complete The Calm Before Quest

The Calm Before quest is one of the new main quests in Fallout 76 added with the Skyline Valley update. It is the third main quest that players will get to pursue on reaching the Dark Hollow Manor. This guide will walk you through The Calm Before quest in Fallout 76.

How to Start the Quest

The Calm Before quest starts immediately after completing the Into Lands Unknown quest. The Into Lands Unknown is the second main quest of the Skyline Valley and completing it will bring players to the entrance of the Dark Hollow Manor in the Skyline Valley region where The Calm Before quest will begin.

Clear the Lost from Dark Hollow Manor

Upon entering the Dark Hollow Manor, several ghouls known as The Lost will attack you. Eliminate all the Ghouls in the area to proceed ahead in the quest.

Use the Intercom

Once you have cleared the Dark Hollow Manor, there is only one accessible room on the right side. Make your way ahead into the room and make your way to the basement to find an Intercom beside the entrance to Vault 63. Interact with the intercom to speak with Hilda Stolz and she will explain the method how to enter the vault.

Retrieve a hand from a Lost Corpse

Hilda will tell you to get a hand from one of the Lost corpses in the manor. Head up the stairs from the basement and loot the corpse beside the door to get the hand. After picking up the Lost Hand, go back downstairs and interact with the Hand Scanner to open the secret path to Vault 63.

Enter Vault 63

Step into the elevator and interact with the button on the right where it says Atrium Upper Level. The elevator takes you to the upper level where you will meet Hilda Stolz in person and surprisingly, she will be a ghoul.

Speak to Hugo Stolz

After speaking with Hilda, she will tell you to meet the overseer of Vault 63, Hugo. Follow the objective marker to meet with Hugo and tell him that Hilda sent you and he will ask you to help him around Vault 63. The first thing he will ask is to get the situation report from James Oberlin.

Get the Reports from James Oberlin

Once you have spoken with Hugo, make your way to the Security Room by following the objective marker and speak with James Oberlin. Simply, ask for the report and he will hand it over to you.

Give the Report to Hugo

Now, make your way back to Hugo and give him the report to conclude the quest. As the quest ends, two new quests will be available for you to begin one for Hugo, and the other one for James Oberlin.
