The Mask is one of the core mechanics in Soulmask which will allow players to unlock new abilities along with passive buffs by upgrading the equipped mask. As players begin their adventure in Soulmask, they will select one of the available starting masks to take an initial step of building their character’s build-type.
For players to strengthen their character’s build and overall in general for survival, they will have to upgrade the mask by unlocking the abilities in the various skill trees available. This guide will provide you with information on how to upgrade the mask in Soulmask.
How to Upgrade the Mask in Soulmask
Upgrading the mask in Soulmask is done by repairing its nodes. Every mask has several nodes which can be seen in the Mask Node Repair Menu by pressing the Y Button. To put these Nodes into more simple words, these are basically more abilities for your character. Now, each node will have two requirements in total: a certain Awareness Strength Level and a certain number of Green Crystals.
How to Get the Green Crystals in Soulmask
The Awareness Strength is basically your character level which is increased by doing almost anything, foraging, harvesting, crafting, fighting, etc. The Green Crystals are the essential items found in the chests within the Ruins, in the Dungeons, and in other major locations on the world map.
You can find a decent number of Green Crystals by going over to the Ancient Ruins on the map and looting the chests in the area. Furthermore, you can also go to the Mysterious Ruins but tribesmen usually guard these ruins that you will have to defeat before you get to loot the chests.
Repairing the Nodes to Upgrade the Mask
Once you have increased your Awareness Strength by a few levels and gathered a decent number of Green Crystals, go into the Mask Node Repair menu by pressing the Y button and press and hold the LMB to repair a node to unlock the ability. Unlocking a node will unlock the other nodes on the tree for you to repair.
Another way to get yourself a new ability for your mask is to clear the Mysterious Ruins on the map and interact with the unique chest in the area. This chest has a Gold Tablet on it and as you interact with it, you will get to unlock a new ability with the required Awareness Strength and the Green Crystals.
