Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an upcoming single-player narrative-driven action-adventure video game. Still, due to the addition of Denuvo Anti-Cheat within the game (on STEAM), players must have an internet connection when they first launch the game.

Denuvo is a DRM (digital rights management) tool that prevents players from modifying the game by any means. It also restricts players from using any kind of hacks or cheating within the game. It is usually for every online multiplayer game to let players have a fair experience throughout the game but as Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a single-player game, it would still require an internet connection, at least at the initial launch of the game for the Denuvo to validate it.

As Dragon’s Dogma 2 does include some online features such as recruiting the Pawns of other players to bring them along in your journey, it is safe to say that Denuvo is not a big issue for validating your game.

Fortunately, you don’t need always an internet connection to be able to run Dragon’s Dogma 2 as the way Denuvo software works, it only needs to validate the game at the first launch and then after a month or so. If you have validated the game at the first launch, you can play the next month even in offline mode and you will face no issues in your save files or so, however, you will have to connect to the internet if you want to use online features of the game or when Denuvo validated time runs out.

Furthermore, the requirement of an internet connection for Dragon’s Dogma 2 Denuvo is only for PC as it is not included in the XBOX and PlayStation versions of the game. So, if you are someone who has pre-ordered the game on PC or planning to buy it on PC, make sure that you have an internet connection up and running when you first launch the game.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is launching on March 22, 2024, for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC.
