Unlocking the Rifle in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is unmissable as it is tied to the main story of the game. The Rifle that players will unlock is not any regular rifle but the very rifle of Kate Newsmith, sister of Thickskin Newsmith whom players meet initially at the Inn in the very first chapter of the game. However, the rifle is not unlocked until Chapter Six, ‘The Beast’.
Players need to simply progress through the main story until they reach the camp in Chapter Five and prove themselves to Kate by helping around the village. Once done, they will be able to speak with Kate who will let them rest at the shelter until her sister, Thickskin returns. Go to the shelter and interact with it to rest until Thickskin is back.
Upon waking up, go to the central building where you first met Kate to meet with Thickskin. Go through the conversation and then head down to meet with Kate. Talk to her and you will be able to pick up Kate’s Rifle beside the campfire.
It will officially unlock the Rifle weapon for you and you will be able to upgrade it like your normal weapons and armor at the campfire using the required resources.
