Palworld offers two main tools, an Axe and a Pickaxe which are used for gathering basic materials like Wood, Stone, Fiber, Ore, etc. Players will get their first Axe and Pickaxe as starting tools which are mainly crafted using stone and wood at a workbench. Using these tools can net players a decent number of materials at each repair but to enhance the potential of getting materials more quickly, players must upgrade to metal tools including Metal Axe and Metal Pickaxe.

How to Get Metal Axe & Metal Pickaxe in Palworld
The Metal Tools including Metal Axe and Metal Pickaxe are obtained by crafting at a workbench using the required materials. However, before players get to craft the tools, they will have to first learn the recipes for each tool. Players can unlock and learn the recipe for both the Metal Axe and Metal Pickaxe once they reach Level 11 of Technology.
To increase the Technology level, forage resources, mine rocks and ores, catch Pals, and complete base missions. Once the players reach Level 11, they can open the Technology tab and use two Technology Points each to learn the recipe for Metal Axe and Metal Pickaxe. After learning the recipes, both of the recipes will unlock at the primitive workbench as well as the High-Quality Workbench.
Interact with any workbench to select the recipes for Metal Axe and Metal Pickaxe to craft them. Crafting both of the tools will require the following materials.
30x Stone
40x Wood
10x Ingot
Once you have crafted the Metal tools, open the inventory and swap them to the Weapons slots with the Stone tools. The durability of Metal Tools is higher than the Stone Tools as well as the damage. It deals 10+ damage than the stone tools and allows you to gather materials twice the speed of stone tools.
