The Royal Hourglass is a new tool in Disney Dreamlight Valley exclusive to the players who own the A Rift in Time expansion. It is used to find the hidden treasures lost in time and remove the Swirling Sands found all across the Eternity Isle world. However, the initial state of Hourglass is weak, and can only find certain types of hidden treasures and remove the small size of Swirling Sands.

How to Upgrade the Royal Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The Royal Hourglass can only be upgraded at the Timebending Table. Players can find the Timebending Table in the Secluded Beach area of Ancient’s Landing or they can get one of their own by talking to Merlin. Once players have access to the TImebending Table, they will be able to do 2 different kinds of upgrades for Hourglass.
Upgrade the Level to find new hidden treasures and unlock several crafting recipes.
Craft the Large Swirling Sands Hourglass Potion.
The first upgrade only allows you to find new hidden treasures by using the Hourglass tool and gives you access to new crafting recipes that you can prepare at the Timebending Table. Each upgrade will increase one level of Hourglass and the cost of the upgrade will also change for each future upgrade.
Level 1 Upgrade costs 5,000 Mist
Level 2 Upgrade costs 10,000 Mist
Level 3 Upgrade costs 15,000 Mist
Level 3 is the max level for the Hourglass tool for which you have to farm quite a lot of Mist. The second upgrade of the Hourglass can be achieved by crafting the Large Swirling Sands Hourglass Potion. Its recipe is found under the Special category at the Timebending Table. Crafting this potion will cost you the following resources.
3,000 Mist
1x Ancient Core (Level 1)
By crafting the potion, the Hourglass will be upgraded which will allow you to remove the large Swirling Sands around the Eternity Isle to gain more Mist.
