What’s Dragon’s Dogma?
For those unaware, Dragon’s Dogma is an open world RPG that originally launched back in 2012 across PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
You play as an Arisen, your own customisable avatar, who, at the beginning of the game, has their heart ripped out by a gigantic dragon. Cue a quest to explore a huge world as you seek out the dragon to win back your heart.
You don’t go it alone though. Joining you on your adventure are ‘Pawns’, which are, basically, NPC characters that you can recruit to help you out in combat.
The first one you unlock is fully customisable, so you can create a synergy with your primary character. The remaining two you either summon at random, or borrow from a friend.
What Games is it Like?
Dragon’s Dogma drew inspiration from a bunch of different series. Think the combat of modern Final Fantasy, with the open world of Skyrim, and the party system of Dragon Age.
You’ve also got boss battles that look ripped right out of Monster Hunter. You can leap on their backs and stab them, or work with your pawns to bring them down.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 basically seems to be a bigger and better version of the original with gorgeous visuals fit for, presumably, 2024. It doesn’t seem to change much other than that, which is likely welcome to fans of the original.
