Just about a month and a half ago developer Team Ugly and publisher Graffiti Games launched puzzle platformer Ugly on PC, Switch, and Xbox, and now it’s on its way to mobile platforms courtesy of Plug in Digital Games. As mentioned, Ugly is a puzzle platformer where the core mechanic is your ability to split a level into two parts and create a mirror image of yourself that you can then control concurrently with your own character. You’ll use this ability to solve a variety of puzzles and uncover loads of different secrets hidden in the game, all of which slowly reveal bits and pieces of the story and your character’s troubled past. Check out Ugly in its launch trailer from the PC and console version.
Ugly has been quite well-received on other platforms in the short time since its launch, with a lot of players comparing it to the classic Braid in terms of having to rewire your brain a bit in order to solve some of its challenging puzzles. The story, visuals, animations, and especially the boss fights have also received plenty of praise, so I’m quite excited to check this one out when it hits mobile. Right now you can pre-order the game on the iOS App Store or pre-register on the Google Play Store for Android. It’s listed at just $4.99 which is a fraction of what it sells for on other platforms, and the expected release date is January 9th, 2024. Until that time feel free to discuss this one with the community over in our forums.
