A Stone Pick is one of the early tools in Ark: Survival Ascended, primarily used for mining to acquire resources such as Flint and other valuable materials. It provides a greater yield, especially for resources like Thatch, Meat, Salt, Sulfur, and Sand, which are essential in various crafting recipes. Players should aim to craft a Stone Pick as early as possible to gather these resources from their surroundings and expand their capabilities.

In this guide, we will explain how to craft a Stone Pick in Ark: Survival Ascended.

How to Craft a Stone Pick in Ark: Survival Ascended

A Stone Pick is an Engram Level 1 recipe, which means you can craft it right at the beginning of the game, provided you have the required materials. Like every other crafting recipe in Ark: Survival Ascended, crafting a Stone Pick also requires specific materials, which are as follows:

1x Stone

1x Wood

10x Thatch

You can obtain Stone by collecting it from the beach and forest areas of the Island or by mining rock deposits using a Stone/Metal Pick. Wood and Thatch can be harvested from trees using a hatchet or your bare hands. Note that punching trees will yield thatch most of the time, but it can also damage your character, so keep an eye on your character’s health.

Once you’ve gathered all the necessary materials, open your inventory and access the crafting menu. Select the Stone Pick from the menu, and it will take a moment to craft. After crafting it, you can equip the Stone Pick from your inventory and place it in your quick inventory slot for easy access.

It’s essential to keep in mind that the Stone Pick has a durability of 40, which gradually decreases with use (0.4 durability deducted per use). If the durability of the Stone Pick reaches 0 (after 100 uses in total), it will break, and you’ll need to craft a new one.
