Robert Nightingale is the victim that got murdered by cultists at Cauldron Lake whom players will get to investigate as Saga Anderson in the first chapter, Return 1: Invitation. As players gather clues and evidence to start solving the case of Robert Nightingale, things will take a dark turn, and Nightingale wakes up from death. The ritual performed on Nightingale turned him into a monster and players need to stop him before he starts killing more people.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to defeat Nightingale in Alan Wake 2.

How to Defeat Nightingale in Alan Wake 2

The first encounter with Nightingale happens in the Morgue’s Examination Room where Nightingale wakes up from his death. Players can evade Nightingale by staying under the light in the examination room and picking up the gun at the end of the hallway to shoot Nightingale. Instead of Nightingale dying, he vanishes and moves to Cauldron Lake where he is murdered.

By progressing in the main objectives of Return 2: The Heart, players will get to encounter Nightingale again where they have to defeat him for good this time. To defeat Nightingale, follow the following steps.

Evade the aggression attack by dodging.

Focus the flashlight on Nightingale to melt its outer layer of darkness and then start shooting at Nightingale.

Once the Nightingale has vanished from the fight and a storm has started, take a narrow path on the right side. Be aware as Nightingale will attack you in the narrow path.

There are a few boxes along the path, make sure to loot them to get ammo and batteries.

As Nightingale returns to attack you, use the flashlight to melt its darkness and start shooting at it. Don’t forget to dodge the aggressive attacks.

Press the designated key on the screen repeatedly whenever Nightingale grabs you to escape him and then shoot him.

Once you have melted all of the darkness of Nightingale, keep shooting him until his dead.

Nightingale has more HP than normal cultist monsters and we recommend using the Sawed-Off Shotgun especially, in the narrow path as he will stay in close range most of the time. Sawed-Off Shotgun deals more damage than a pistol so, make sure to use it quickly instead of reloading the pistol whenever out of bullets in the magazine.
