Building your dream city requires various infrastructures like schools, shopping centers, hospitals, etc. Still, your dream city is nothing without electricity as people will not stay in the dark and will leave if you don’t fulfill their necessities and keep them happy. Electricity is one of the key requirements for the citizens along with Water and Sewage that will allow the first inhabitants to move into your city.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to provide electricity to citizens in Cities: Skylines II.
How to Provide Electricity to Citizens in Cities: Skylines II
Almost everything in the city needs electricity to work. A well-working electricity grid keeps citizens happy and services working. To provide electricity throughout your city and the homes of citizens, you need to build the infrastructures that produce electricity. There are several infrastructures in Cities: Skylines II that produce electricity with each one having its own pros and cons.
Transformer Station
Wind Turbine
Coal Power Plant
Gas Power Plant
Geothermal Power Plant
Solar Power Plant
Hydroelectric Power Plant
Emergency Battery Solution
At the initial stage, you can start by building only 1 – 2 electricity infrastructures to power up the small town/city. To build the electricity infrastructures, follow the following steps.
Build the roads from a safe distance from the residential areas to build an industrial area.
Select ‘Electricity’ from the bar to view all the available infrastructures.
Select the infrastructures and place them around the industrial area.
Apart from producing the electricity on your own, you can also import electricity. To import the electricity, you need to go to the edge of the starting zone leading to the outside and look for the electricity towers. Build a road near the towers and connect it to one of the roads leading to the town and then build a Transformer Station on the side of the road. The transformer station will import the electricity from the nearby city to your city.
You can also keep track of how much electricity you are producing and how much your city is consuming by going into the Electricity tab. Make sure to keep the production of electricity just a bit higher than the consumption and don’t over produce electricity as it can impact your overall budget.
